Sonarpilot is the alias of Swiss electronic musician and multimedia
artist, Michael Moppert.

Michael started his career as a musician and studio owner
in the 1980s, writing music, and designing soundscapes for stage, theater, and dance productions alongside the creation of experimental short films and videos.
In the early 90s, Michael expanded his work into the digital realm. This led to the foundation of a successful software company that kept him busy for the next 15 years. His passion for music brought him back to his creative roots as the new millennium unfolded and he created Sonarpilot, Michael's musical alter ego. Since the late 2000s, Sonarpilot has been consistently releasing a stream of critically acclaimed electronic music.
Over the past decade, Michael has worked closely with London-based producer and DJ veteran Jonny Miller to establish Sonarpilot Audio, a record label publishing Michael's work and a successful series of collaborations with renowned electronic musicians from around the world. In 2018, Michael embarked on The Mirage Project, an immersive video series that combines music and visual art to explore the semi fictional 'Mirage' cosmos. Through the simultaneous development of intricate computer-generated visuals and captivating electronic soundscapes, Sonarpilot creates a unique, mesmerizing aesthetic, designing journeys into the uncanny valley between naturalism and science fiction.
The Mirage Project engages with thought-provoking themes, such as the nature of the cosmos, our place in the universe, the implications of artificial intelligence and the convergence of nature and technology, all adding a philosophical dimension to the work. The Mirage Project is currently in its second season, which will run until the end of 2023.
Embracing the emerging landscape of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), Sonarpilot has actively participated in the NFT scene since 2021. He released works that are based on the Mirage Project's worlds, along with other independent productions, such as the successful “Soul Globes” collection.
